Divenire was launched in June 2019, by South African National rhythmic gymnast, Candice Uys.  Candice, our head coach, opened Divenire to share her passion and love for rhythmic gymnastics and promote and improve this beautiful sport in the Western Cape and South Africa.

As a competitive gymnast, Candice became a four-time national champion and represented South Africa at various competitions around the world, including the 2018 World Challenge Cup in Guadalajara, Spain.  She is known, all over the world, for her perseverance and will and for achieving goals that were deemed impossible.  She has inspired many gymnasts and athletes to strive towards their goals, against all odds.

Candice started coaching at the young age of 17 and began choreographing at the age of 18.  She has coached at a number of clubs around South Africa and in Toronto, Canada. Her choreography has helped gymnasts win numerous medals at National Championships and international competitions. With an abundance of experience, passion and knowledge, Candice hopes to produce and inspire wonderfully passionate and driven gymnasts and create the next generation of successful South African gymnasts.

The club was named Divenire to honour Candice’s late mother, Tracey.  Divenire is the name of Tracey’s favourite piece of music (Divenire by Ludovico Einaudi) and is Italian meaning “to become”.
